At SandenVendo, those decisions guide how we design vending machines, use energy and care for the environment. Our 2024 Sustainability Report highlights the progress behind our vision: reliable, energy-efficient vending solutions that reduce environmental impact throughout their life cycle.
Our HCD Direct Expansion System uses R290, a natural refrigerant with low global warming potential. According to our 2024 report, this technology delivers an average 40% reduction in electricity consumption compared with our previous HC/HC2 refrigeration systems.
For vending operators, this means lower energy requirements during use. For us, it demonstrates how better engineering can support more sustainable vending.
Environmental performance is a priority for our research and development teams. Our projects include patented technology for a vending machine capable of cooling and heating, alongside improvements in refrigeration efficiency, modular design and recycled materials.
This commitment extends to manufacturing: since January 2022, we have purchased 100% renewable electricity certified through Guarantees of Origin, resulting in zero reported market-based Scope 2 emissions.
In FY2024, we also reduced energy consumption per unit produced by 9.84% compared with FY2023 and achieved ISO 50001:2018 certification for energy management.
Through our Carbon Neutral Project, launched in 2020, we support reforestation and long-term woodland management in Piedmont. By the reporting date, the project had planted 2,709 native trees, including 588 in FY2024. Together with initiatives supporting local beekeepers, this work helps restore habitats and protect biodiversity.
Our carbon-neutrality pathway includes a target to offset Scope 3 emissions by FY2030, alongside our long-term Net Zero ambition for 2050.
Reducing emissions and compensating for them play distinct roles in this journey. We continue to prioritise product efficiency, responsible resource use and transparent emissions monitoring as we work towards these goals.
